The past couple of days I have felt a little off my game. I am feeling the "crunch time" before my husband comes home on leave. I wasn't able to do much yesterday because my A/C wasn't working. Anyone that knows me well, knows that I don't handle the heat very well. Especially when the temp inside the house reached 90! It's one thing to be outside and intentionally in the heat, but inside is supposed to be cool!! I thought that it was "load management", turns out that it was the A/C. Oh well. Not my day for A/C, it went out in the car also.
So, all that being said, today has been a little better. It has been hard for me to keep up with the amounts of food I should be eating right now. Most of what I have in my pantry is not on my list right now, and I don't have the money to go shop. I am trying to make what I have stretch, but it doesn't seem to be working. Especially when the amount I should eat is more than what I have. So, I am just doing the best I can right now. Thursday is payday!! Time to stock up.
All of my energy is being spent house cleaning, something that hasn't been done for a while. Something about being a military family (for me, anyway), you don't seem to want to unpack everything for a while. We have moved so many times, we just get tired of unpacking, so we end up with boxes upon boxes in the garage. That's where my car should be!! But instead, there are boxes. Some that have to be looked through, some that can't be disposed of, some that need to be re-organized. It just never seems to end.
My WOD's have been put aside for the simple fact that I just haven't had the energy. And my momentum is on a downswing. Need to get it together!!! Gotta get myself straight!

My Thoughts
Just a thought....take it for what you will.
The Gulf Oil Crisis is a disaster, no doubt. However, I feel that if we were to be HALF as upset about all the chemicals and preservatives and crap that the manufactures are putting in our food, maybe something would change. I mean, think about it, really stop and think. When is the last time you stopped and read the ingredient label on your prepackaged food?? Not the "Nutrition Label", the ingredients. I recently did this and was shocked. High fructose corn syrup ,MSG, colors, preservatives and such. What is all that crap doing to our bodies?? Is it similar to what is happening to the Gulf?? I don't doubt it. I have made a commitment to myself and my family that we are going to eat as healthy and as "clean" as possible. I know that we can make a change in our own lives for the better.
We (everyone) need to start thinking about the crap that we are doing to our earth, our home and in turn, ourselves.
Like I said, just a thought!

Bad Day turns Good
Friday didn't go as planned for me, no surprise there. My plan was to clean house since hubby is coming home on leave on the 26th. Managed to get some done. Vacuumed and mopped the living room, did some dusting, hung some pictures, chased the kids, didn't eat until noon. Oh, and I slept in since there is no school for the kids. Sleeping in is 8:30 around here. Anyway, didn't get my WOD in. Had "girls night" with my friend, Tonya. She is on a "belly buster" diet from her Dr. That made it easier when it came to dining out! I had the salmon with steamed broccoli, water with lemon, and NO BREAD!! We usually devour at least two baskets of the stuff at Carraba's. To be honest, it smelled fantastic, but I really didn't even want it. Tonya only had 2 pieces! So proud of her. I kept saying in my head, "you are here to enjoy each others company, not so much the food.". We get together at least once a month. No kids, no husbands, no worries. Neither of us batted an eye when the waiter asked if we were going to have dessert! I think we shocked him when we said "no thank you" in stereo. I think that is the first time I have left Carraba's not feeling bloated and ready for a nap. YAY
So, today, I will do TWO Wod's to make up for my lapse yesterday. One is already done. AMRAP in 15min.
5 sit ups
10 push ups
15 squats
20 lunges
First WoD I managed 3 1/2 rounds. Got the heart rate going and worked up a sweat. Felt good to get it done. Hard to believe that I was feeling guilty for skipping it Friday! I don't normally do that...usually it's, "oh well, maybe I'll do it tomorrow.". And then tomorrow never comes. What the hell is going on here??!! :) Good things, apparently!
Second WoD, only three rounds. But, the girl across the street joined in with me and I had to stop a couple of times to correct her form. She asked me, when I came to round up my kids, if I was working out today. I said of course and she asked, "can I do it with you?". Keep in mind, she is only 11! We walked first, up and down the block twice, even sometimes walking backwards. Josh and Victoria also did the walk! Awesome!! I love it. Today was a good day.

This has become viral!
Ok, so I was talking to my neighbor across the street about what I am doing. She was quite interested. I told her that I had to do my workout and what it consists of, she decided to join me, and her daughter and both sons as well! I told her not to do as many reps as me. We were kinda slowed down because of all the kids....5 in all. We did 3 rounds in 40:41. Not too terrible considering. Made me feel good to see all of us together doing this and spending time with each other! Then came the thunderstorm!! One more reason we only did 3 rounds.
At least I got the WOD done!! I did it, and that's saying a lot. Tomorrow work and then a brisk 10 min walk. I will probably walk longer, though to make up for only doing 3 rounds today.

First REAL wod
Ok, so my first "real" wod this evening with Sue. I have to say I did better than I thought I would. Of course, it helps to have someone pushing you through it.
I (we) did four rounds for time.
Walk, squats (20), push ups (20)and sit ups (20). My time was 39.09.
Loving the fact that my 5 yr old daughter joined us! If that doesn't give me motivation, nothing will. I have to do this for myself and for them. The cycle of unhealthy eating/living has to stop somewhere.
It really hits me when I have a family come through my checkout line at Publix that are ALL overweight. I see what they are buying and shake my head in dismay. Do they not realize that they are literally killing themselves?? Granted, my eating habits haven't been the greatest, but I am working on changing that. The more I read labels, the more scared I get. Half of the stuff I can't pronounce and the other half is salt, fat and/or sugar.
So tomorrow, another wod (same as above). Hopefully I can get through it on my own, since I wimped out on Monday and didn't do crap! Facebook will eventually kill me if I don't get it under control soon. Kept saying to myself, get off of this damn computer and do your wod!! Didn't work though. I am a facebook addict as well as a sugar and starch addict. Does that mean I have an addictive personality? I used to think I couldn't go a day without a Coke...gestational diabetes stomped that. Have gone since Friday without coffee, sugar, bread, dairy, pasta and junk food. Probably the longest I have done that!
Anyway....Thursday I need to go buy a bathroom scale since mine is broken. I have no idea what my beginning weight was, but I know from being at the Dr. that I was over 180. Would have liked to know what it really was!

Trying to get on track...
Ok, here we go. I am calling a "do over". Time to try and get things in my life back on track, and the first step is to work on me. Time to quit being lazy and coming up with excuses why I can't do things. All my life I have been overweight and now is the time to claim my body back from all the terrible eating habits and lack of exercise!! I am not trying to become the skinny Kristine, just the healthy, happy, strong Kristine. (I think I deserve it.)
Yes, I was that kid in the neighborhood that was picked on, bullied, made fun of, etc. Hell, they even made up a song about me, those clever little kids!! To this day I can't listen to "Hot Blooded". Overweight, glasses, oily hair that was out of control, shy,akward.....that was me. Kids are so relentless!! The saying "sticks and stones" is CRAP! Words hurt and they leave scars that sometimes never go away. So now, today I am still overweight, wear glasses (contacts and I don't get along), sometimes shy, not quite as akward and my hair has calmed down, some. My husband always tells me, "when you finally get sick and tired of being sick and tired, you'll do something about it!". I think it's time. Only problem is....I have no will power to continue what I start. I need someone to push me and not give up on me when I am ready to quit. I hope that I have found that person!! (I think so.)
Tomorrow is the first day of my new journey, wish me luck! I know it's not gonna be easy, but my kids and I are worth the hard work it's gonna take. Not to mention, my hubby will be proud of me too!
